EmilyIcebreakerFranni, one of our most seasoned Toastmasters, started the year off with an appropriate theme—improving as Toastmasters. Our theme is always striving to get better as a Toastmaster. Ultimately, we all become better Toastmasters when seize opportunities to develop our speaking skills.

One of our newest members, Emily, (pictured left) gave a wonderful Icebreaker speech entitled “All Roads Lead to West Seattle.” She spoke about growing up in West Seattle around her many relations. While in college she discovered her love of traveling, and took every opportunity to travel the world. Now that Emily has returned to the area, she is ready to settle back down in West Seattle.

In a stunning Speech Project #4, Karen shared her dream of flying, and gave a copilot glimpse of obtaining her pilot license.  When Karen discovered that she would have to let go of her flying aspirations, she found that letting go of one dream opened the door to another.

Our Table Topics Master, Dom selected some popular New Year’s Resolutions for 2013. Dom asked participants to pick a popular resolution and extemporaneously tell the audience how and why they were going to make it their New Year’s resolution, or why they were not.

We welcomed five guests and hope to see them again. We’d love to see you too!
